Abe Collier Estes passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019, in Luverne, Alabama, after a long illness. He was 76 years old. He is survived by his son, Christopher Russell Estes, and daughter-in-law, Adrienne van der Valk.
Abe was born February 28, 1943, in Elmore County, Alabama. He ran a successful concrete business for most of his career and took great pride in his work. Abe was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, quail hunting, and gardening; he also enjoyed playing golf and traveling to watch Alabama football games with his family and friends. Those closest to Abe remember him for his lively storytelling. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Abe's life will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, at the Fitzgerald Museum (919 Felder Rd.) in Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Abe’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
