Mr. Albert Donovan Fowler Sr, 101, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Funeral services for Mr. Fowler will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 11th, at the First Baptist Church of Luverne with Rev. Clay Crum and Dr. Dale Huff officiating. The family will hold a private burial in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Fowler graduated from The University of Alabama in 1949, where he was also a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He also proudly served with the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He would go on to become a licensing agent for the Alabama Department of Insurance. Mr. Fowler was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who leaves behind a lasting legacy for all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty H. Fowler; great-grandson, Hunter Phillip Sartain Jr; and his parents, John Chapman and Hilda Ball Fowler. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Don & Becky Fowler and Randy & Carole Fowler; three grandchildren, Andrea Fowler (Hunter) Sartain, Daniel (Brandi) Fowler, and Rachel Fowler (Colby) McNorton; and six great-grandchildren, Ensley Sartain, Camden Sartain, Braxton Fowler, Brody Fowler, Eliza Grace Fowler, and Hayes McNorton.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Fowler, Colby McNorton, Hunter Sartain, and Noah Daugherty. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 - 2 PM.
