CURTIS, Mrs. Alice M. Alexander, 79, left this life to enter into life eternal with the Lord on April 2, 2015. Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Glenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Weeks and Rev. Michael Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1 pm until service time.Active pallbearers will be Curtis Glaize, Marty Hanks, Edward Alexander, Ryan Alexander, Ray Filmore, Bill Filmore, William Filmore, and Paul Shutes.
Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Herbert Gerald Curtis; her parents, Marion and Grace Alexander, and her brother Richard Alexander. Survivers include her daughters Alecia Curtis Glaize (Ed) of Brewton, AL, Gerri Curtis Shutes (Paul) of John’s Creek, GA: four grandchildren Curtis Glaize, Anna Grace Glaize, Katherine Shutes and Sarah Shutes;and a brother, Gary Alexander.
Alice was born, April 9, 1935 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She later lived in Selma and Mobile before moving to Ansley, AL. She graduated from Troy High School in 1953, trained as a lab technician, and worked in the medical field for many years.
Alice enjoyed serving with the Crenshaw Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Garden Club of Luverne, and at the Glenwood United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Glenwood United Methodist Church or the Crenshaw Community Hospital Auxiliary.
