Alice Faye Sims McLeod, 80, a resident of Goshen, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. A graveside service for Alice will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 12th, in Darien Cemetery with Rev. Malcolm Butts officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
Alice was about the hardest worker you would ever meet and she proved it over the 30 years she worked as a poultry grower for Wayne Farms. In her free time, there were few things she loved more than finding a bountiful fishing hole in which to drop a line and spend a peaceful afternoon. She also took great pride in her home, carefully tending to her yard over the years and whipping up some of the best Southern cooking you could find. Her family was especially fond of her chili, chicken pot pie, casseroles, and homemade chicken and dumplings. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt who loved every moment she was able to spend with them, and she was especially fond of spending time with her cherished sisters. She will be missed more than words can possibly express, but her family will be comforted not only by all the memories they made together, but also in the knowledge that she is now safe and healthy in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Alice was preceded in death by her infant daughter; parents, James Luther "Shorty" and Mary Gorman Sims; and sister, Mary Ellen Simmons. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles E. McLeod; their son, Charles E. "Chuck" (Ginger) McLeod Jr; siblings, Betty (Bill) Stewart, Ann (Ron) Mills, Jimmy Sims, and Dave Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Ronald Simmons, Merritt Mills, John Motes, Greg Turner, Wade Locklar, and Bill Stewart.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to both Hometown Medical and Aveanna Hospice for everything they did for Alice during the time she needed them the most.
