Alta Martin Tate, 92, a resident of Pace, Florida and formerly of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away into eternal life on December 23, 2021. Funeral services for Alta will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 28th, at Glenwood Assembly of God with Rev. Lee Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Alta was born on February 23, 1929 to Dewey and Mollie Martin, and she spent most of life in her hometown of Glenwood. As a woman who loved the Lord, she was a dedicated member of the Glenwood Assembly of God Church, and she led the congregation in singing. Alta also loved to cook for her family and friends, and she was always supportive of those in her community. She had a smile that would light up a room and the personality to match. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family as her most precious possession. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Alta is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Edward Tate, and her parents, Dewey & Mollie Everage Martin. Alta is survived by her children Dwight (Lillian) Tate and Linda (Luther) Bridgers; her grandchildren, Cindy (Mike) Hannon, Molly (Shawn) McNulty, Martin (Laura) Tate, and Lee (Crystal) Tate, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn McNulty, Ben McNulty, Mike Hannon, Martin Tate, Wayne Shirley, and Terry Tate. Bob Witherington will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10 - 11 AM.
