Annie Murl LeGear Snell, 82, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Thursday, May 14th, 2026. A graveside service for Annie will be held at 2 PM on Monday, May 18th, in Providence Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the service. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
There are few who walk this planet who shone as brightly as dear Annie. She was the true definition of love and generosity; traits easily recognizable to all who met her, which is why she was so fiercely loved throughout her life. She wore the name Mama with such pride, especially when far more people than the ones she birthed referred to her by the same title as her precious children. Even better were the "little ones" who came along and named her first Granny and later MawMaw. She adored each and every one, each owning a dear piece of her heart. And talk about a smile that lit up every room she entered and a laugh that couldn't help but be contagious! She taught all those honored to be a part of her family and friends how to find the joy in even the smallest parts of life because no one loved life and knew how to enjoy it like Annie. That is the legacy she leaves behind and I know of none finer.
Annie was preceded in death by her son, Keith McSheridan; grandson, George Ballard; parents, Earl & Flossie Bell Elliot LeGear; and siblings, John LeGear, William LeGear, Martha Carlisle, Minnie Howard, Geri Pugh, and Hattie Bass. She is survived by her beloved children, Deborah Ballard, Kimberly Snell, Jeffery McSheridan, Billy (Darra) Snell, and Elvis (Drenda) McSheridan; grandchildren, Mandy (Travis) Powers, Kamelia (Samuel) Bowlan, Seyth (Jenna) Snell, Sayge (Lane) Sides, Blu McSheridan; Doug McSheridan, Zachery Hurber, Kandis Hurber, and Tyler (Robyn) Ballard; great-grandchildren, Landon Pridgen, Wyatt Powers, Marlow Sides, Grady Snell, Lawson Snell, Hannah Bowlan, Brooklyn Bowlan, Hailey Bowlan, Presley Bowlan, Hallie Rae Ballard, Emma Kate McSheridan, and Emery Lynn McSheridan; brother, Jack LeGear; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Elvis McSheridan, Jeffery McSheridan, Billy Snell, Seyth Snell, Landon Pridgen, Travis Powers, Blu McSheridan, and W.D. McSheridan.
