Arnie B. Morrow

May 12, 1940 — March 28, 2023

Luverne

Mr. Arnie B. Morrow, 82, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Funeral services for Arnie will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 31st, at Faith Walk Church with Pastor Leon Hall & Rev. Greg Melvin officiating. Interment will follow in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.

Arnie loved meeting new people and spending time with different characters, which is why his jobs always leaned into that. Whether it was installing poultry equipment, selling cars, or as a security guard at the county courthouse, he loved the variety that meeting so many people added to his life. He always got along well with others due to his great sense of humor and warm, generous personality. If you didn't meet Arnie through one of his jobs, you likely met him from his years as the president of the Luverne High School Quarterback Club or over a favorite meal at the Chicken Shack! LHS always knew they could depend on Arnie's support throughout the years, and one of his favorite joys in life was cheering on the Luverne Tigers on Friday nights. He was also a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, so it was a great fall weekend when both his teams won.

Arnie had a lifelong passion of southern gospel music and he & his beloved wife are the last surviving charter members of Faith Walk Church. They have put so much time and love into their 55 years with their church family who always held a special place in their heart. He never took a lot of personal free time as he was a dedicated hard worker since his youth, but what time he did take, there were few things he enjoyed more than watching his favorite Westerns, especially if they starred John Wayne. Why rewatch them? Because you never know what you might have missed before or when it might surprise you! Above all, however, Arnie was a devoted family man. His role as a husband, father, and grandfather was always his most important and rewarding. His family was his guiding star and priority throughout his life, and he never stopped taking care of them, even when he was in his final days. He was their rock and their lives were all the better for his presence in them.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Chapman & Dollie M. Hampton Morrow, and eleven siblings. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Hazel Baty Morrow; their children, Debbie Morrow Warren, Robby (Christy) Morrow, and Tammy (James) Dobbs; grandchildren, Ashley Edwards, Dusty Morrow, Matthew Morrow, and Marlee Morrow; sister-in-law, Barbara Morrow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Dusty Morrow, Matthew Morrow, T.J. Morrow, John Gainey, Bobby Witherington, and Justin Witherington.
