SMSgt. Aubrey C. Luke, USAF, Ret., 90, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2019. A graveside service for Mr. Luke will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 16, in Sasser Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Luke grew up during the Great Depression, which taught him a lifelong lesson about the true value of a dollar and the hard work necessary to earn it; however, he was always extraordinarily generous with his family and friends. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, for over 26 years. Upon retirement, he took up another profession in service to his country, as he worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He also loved the outdoors, and spent much of his free time working his own land.
Mr. Luke was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Ann Luke; his parents, George Washington and Cora Lee Daiy Luke; and his brother, William Luke. He is survived by his three children, Larry Coleman (Kathy) Luke, Rhonda Ann Luke (Jesse) Miles, and Cynthia Steele; two grandchildren, Darrick Coleman Luke and Heather Leigh Miles; and two siblings, Bobby R. (Janet) Luke and Laureen L. Hall.
Active pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM.
