Audrey was simply the quintessential Southern grandma from the "'country." She loved going fishing and hunting with her husband, as well as keeping a phenomenally well-stocked pantry with homemade jellies, fig & pear preserves, and plenty of canned vegetables from the garden they tended to so well. Audrey was unfailingly outgoing and generous with absolutely in her life. She and Ronald always loved good music as well as hosting events like fish fries at their home. Just mention a fish fry around them and it was guaranteed they not only wanted to host but to also supply the fish out of their pond and all of the rest of the food as well. Probably the most important thing she did was help raise her grandsons, who most certainly could not have asked for a better grandma! Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose impact on the lives she touched will live on for many more years to come.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Ronald Sasser; children, Brenda Lewis and Jeff Neal; parents, John H. & Gladys Elizabeth Cowart Johnson; and siblings, Mary Ruth Pinckard, Evie Spencer, and Donald Johnson. She is survived by her son, Bobby Neal; grandsons, Jason (Marcy) Messick, Jessie Messick, and Jacob (Tammy) Messick; great-grandchildren, Dylin Messick, Emily Rose Messick, and Kadin Lewis; siblings, Betty (Nick) Gaines, Patsy Roberts, and Ronald (Jan) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
