Mrs. Barbara Wood King, 71, a resident of Andalusia, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Mizzell Memorial Hospital in Opp on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 31st, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Rayburn officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. King spent most of her working career as a skilled seamstress in local textile factories. In her free time, she delighted in preparing fabulous dishes for her family and friends to enjoy. She was the epitome of a "people person." She loved being around people and entertaining them in her home, where she had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed. Above all, she loved her Lord and her family above all else, but especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the lights of her life. She leaves behind a special and cherished legacy for them all to carry through in their own lives.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa King; two grandchildren, Trent King and Christopher Pendergrass; parents, Kip Hillary & Mary Alice Mitchell Wood; and siblings, Shirley Peeks and Gerald Wood. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph E. King; their two sons, Mike (Sherry) King and Joey (Beth) King; grandchildren, Kandace King, Desiree (Michael) Smith, and Jessie (Tracey) Castillow; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Patsy (Jerry) Chandler.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 - 11 AM.
