Barbara Gardner Norman, 70, a resident of Ramer, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, while surrounded by her family. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, July 21st, at Eastern Meadows Church of Christ.
Barbara was the definition of a true Christian woman. She was unfailingly kind, caring, and loving with everyone she interacted with. She simply had a heart for people and that made her so very special to all those who knew and loved her. She may not have known it, but she was nothing but a blessing straight from God. She was also a brilliant writer and put those skills to work in various occupations over the years like her public relations job at Baptist Healthcare Foundation. Naturally, like most writers, she also had love of new stories she found through reading and listening to audiobooks, especially the Outlander series.
Barbara was also a born hostess. There were few things she enjoyed more than entertaining people either in her home or on other occasions. Lord knows, if she was going to be cooking for such occasions, everyone was going to be happy because she was a phenomenal cook. There were few things she couldn't make, but her family were enthusiastic fans of her lemon and chocolate pies. She also enjoyed sewing and enjoyed making heirloom style dresses for her daughter when she was young. Barbara counted herself fortunate to have met the love of her life, Michael, when they were just children. They spent almost 50 years by each other's side as they raised their family with all the love possible. She was especially thrilled when she took on the role of "Gammie" to her grandchildren, who she adored with all her heart and soul. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by the family the family who cherished her so dearly, but they will find comfort in the lifetime of treasured memories they made together.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William C. & Norma Jean Barnes Gardner. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Michael Norman; their children, Kyle (Kelly) Norman and Kallie (Nathan) Futral; grandchildren, Aiden Futral, Nolan Futral, Lawson Futral, and Leena Futral; sister, Linda (Butch) Royal; a niece, and several nephews, extended family members, and friends.
