Mrs. Barbara Lane Phillips, 72, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 29, 2019. Funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 2, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Blake Johnson and Pastor Sherri Miniard officiating. Interment will follow in Mills Chapel Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Phillips worked as a seamstress for many years, but considered taking care of her family the most important job she could have. She was a loving wife, mom, and “Granny.” She especially adored her great-grandchildren. She was a true Christian who could always be depended upon to be honest and kind to everyone she met. She truly lived the Golden Rule in treating others as she wanted to be treated. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her mother, Reby E. Allen, and her father, James Rogers. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, James C. Phillips; their three daughters, Melonie (Chuck) Latshaw, Rhonda (Danny) Johnson, and Dawn (Brian) Rayborn; five grandchildren, Blake (Holly) Johnson, Shantea Latshaw, Brandon (Lindsey) Johnson, Chaz (Brittany) Latshaw, and Ashlynn (Paul) Baker; nine great-grandchildren; two siblings, Dale (Peggy) Rogers and Betty (Ladon) Wood; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver, Leneatha Williamson.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Johnson, Chuck Latshaw, Brian Rayborn, Brandon Johnson, Chaz Latshaw, and Paul Baker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 1, from 6 - 8pm.
