Barbara Sue Hall Wells, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 8,2024 at her home in Brantley, Alabama. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
Barbara was born on July 2, 1949 in Brantley and was a proud graduate of Brantley High School in 1967. After graduation, she continued her education at MacArthur State Technical School where she earned a degree in Data Programming. Throughout her diverse career, Barbara contributed to various roles, including Assistant Purchasing Manager at Sunshine Cookie Company in Columbus, Georgia, ownership of a grocery store in Omaha, Georgia as well as a small cafe in Seale, Alabama, and, after returning to her hometown, she would own and operate various businesses like painting, wallpaper, and a bakery. After her return to Brantley, Barbara immersed herself in collecting antiques and unique items showcasing her appreciation for the extraordinary. She was not only a professional and experienced businesswoman, but also a truly compassionate person. Known for her kindness and generosity, she dedicated herself to helping others, particularly the elderly, handicapped and small children. Her love also extended to her special canine companion, Maggie. In memory of Barbara Sue, her family and friends will celebrate a life well lived with compassion, generosity and an enduring spirit that touched the lives of many. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Flarie Adams Hall; her siblings, Bobby Hall, Judith Ann Hall, and Mary Jo Hall O'Dell; sister-in-law, Virginia Hall; and brother-in-law, Perry Stricklin. She is survived by her siblings, James Lamar (Carol) Hall, Billy (Sybil) Hall, Kenneth (Sharon) Hall, Chester Hall, Gloria (Ben) Cornett, Sylvia Hall Sipper, Cynthia (Jim) Williamson, Ann (Jerry) Godwin, and Dottie Taylor Stricklin; and a host of loving nieces and nephews..
