Mr. Charles Benjamin “Ben” Tisdale, passed away peacefully the morning of January 19th at Wickshire Memory Care in Buford, Georgia. He was born in Luverne, Alabama on March 16th 1935, the son of Alice Money Tisdale and Burie Edward Tisdale.
Ben graduated with honors from Luverne High School in 1953. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Alabama in 1961, where he was a Vice President in the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He went on to receive his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Houston in 1969. All of his education was achieved with full academic scholarships.
He met and married Patsy Freeman Dukemineer in Huntsville Alabama in 1962. They moved to Houston, Texas for him to accept an opportunity to engineer designs for NASA in the Apollo program from 1968 to 1975. He then moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where he devotedly raised his family and launched a commercial real estate career which lasted until His move to Georgia in 2019.
He was an avid hunter with his father and son. He had a passion for roller coasters and corvettes. He loved the ocean and scuba diving. He never lost his fascination for space, constantly studying and researching. He was also very compassionate with dogs and they gave him great comfort.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Patsy Freeman Dukemineer, and his brother, William Edward Tisdale. He is survived by his son, Charles Benjamin Tisdale Jr. of Austin, Texas, his daughter, Julie Tisdale Penrose and her husband, Daniel Penrose of Johns Creek, Georgia, his granddaughters, Jordan Nicole Fietz of Orlando, Florida, and Courtney Michelle Penrose of Roswell, Georgia, his grandson, Parker Penrose of Johns Creek, Georgia and his sister, Audrey Tisdale McCullar of Braselton, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, he would have wanted you to donate to your local humane society or any dog rescue charity of your choice.
He will be laid to rest on January 27th at 2:00 at Bethel Cemetery on Glenwood Road in Goshen, Alabama, next to his father.
