Bettie Jean Walker

Bettie Jean Walker, 82, a resident of Goshen, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center South on Monday, November 17th, 2025. There are no public services scheduled at this time.

Bettie was one of the most generous, kindest, and loving people you could ever hope to meet. Cooking was definitely her love language because she loved nothing more than feeding everyone who walked through her door. And that door was always open to everyone because she had a true heart of gold. She also never failed to see the positive side of any situation. One of her favorite things to do was just relaxing on her porch with family and friends to catch up on any local "news" as they just talked and laughed. In her free time, she loved watching all of her old favorite Westerns on TV or looking for a great deal at a thrift store. Above all, she was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished every moment spent with her family, especially when she had her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren under one roof. As a devout Christian, the strength of her love touched the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. She had a gift for making anyone feel like they were at home whenever they were with her.

Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Caney & Liller Wicker Holmes, and siblings, Christine Hurley, Mary Goodwin, Dorothy Crowe, Hayward Holmes, James Holmes, Ray Holmes. She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Donna & William Brown; grandsons, Austin (Kaylee) Brown and Cameron (Karena) Brown; great-grandchildren, Lainey Brown & Maverick Singleton; sister, Annie Scott; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
