Mr. Billy Glen Chesser, 71, a resident of Sylacauga, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega on Monday, April 12, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Chesser will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 14th, in Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Francisco officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Chesser proudly served his country with the United States Army for many years. He would go on to work several other jobs after his honorable discharge. In his free time, he loved spending quiet afternoons fishing. He also enjoyed collecting antique telephones, radios, and clocks, and he was always on the lookout for a new find. He and his wife, Patricia, were still in the “newlywed” stage, even after over a year of marriage. He absolutely adored her, and made sure she had a new bouquet of roses every single month of their marriage. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He often delighted the youngest with rides around their home on his scooter. Mr. Chesser obviously had a big, loving personality that endeared him to all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Chesser was preceded in death by his son, William Glen Chesser; parents, George Julius & Sallie Mae Hall Chesser; and four siblings, Ora Mae Fox, Leon Chesser, Joseph F. Chesser, and John Tom Chesser. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Shepherd Chesser; four siblings, Lonnie Chesser, Alvin Ray Chesser, Minnie Lee “M.L.” Royal, and Margie Clemmons; three stepchildren, Lillie (Kenneth) Showalter, Bobby (Catrina) Skelton, and Billy (Crystal) Skelton; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Dustin Butler, Dominick Butler, Bobby Skelton, Ken Showalter, and Tony Shepherd.
