Brenda June Diamond Cook, 64, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home, while surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. A graveside service for Brenda will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, June 1st, in Indian Creek Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Canant officiating. The family will received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM.
Brenda was one of the most caring and generous people you could ever hope to meet. However, just because she was so kind and loving that did not mean she was anyone's pushover. Growing up on a farm, working the land with her family, also made her incredibly strong and resilient. After all, there aren't many women who could hop out of a truck and catch a turkey with their bare hands! One of the best things about Brenda, though, was how her heart was always open and full to everyone she knew and loved, but especially her beloved grandchildren. Only the truly fortunate have a grandmother as wonderful as she was. There were many days when those grandkids had a full home-cooked meal waiting for them when they got off the school bus. More importantly, she made sure that she taught every single one of them the valuable life skill of how to cook for themselves. Granted, their hoe cakes, banana pudding, and fried chicken will never be quite as delicious as Granny's was, but they'll cherish both the skills and the memories that came along with them.
Brenda was also an excellent seamstress, able to make just about anything she set her mind to, and she was always excited for a trip to her native Texas or Louisiana. Above all, however, Brenda will be remembered for how truly devoted she was as a mother, grandmother, and sister. She was the heart and soul of her family so words cannot express how much she will be missed, but her legacy will live on for as long as their hearts and memories carry on.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Annie (Drew) Deal Rodgers, and father, Jack Diamond. She is survived by her children, Lydia Redmon, Hanna (Danny) Killingsworth, Jeremy (Christina) Cook, and Chris (Shannon) Cook; grandchildren, Katrina Cook, Gage Killingsworth, Izzy Killingsworth, Britton Goldsmith, Elijah Redmon, and Emmanuel Redmon; sisters, Debbie (Randy) Brooks and Sandra Lasiter; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Killingsworth, Gage Killingsworth, Chase Burnette, Kyle Carnley, Billy Kelley, and Johnny Redmon.
