Brenda Killough Franklin

Mrs. Brenda Killough Franklin, 81, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, May 29th, 2023 while surrounded by her family. A graveside service for Brenda will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 1st, in Rutledge Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery on Thursday at the service time.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always cherished her family as her greatest blessing on earth every day of her life. In her free time, she was an avid reader and a longtime supporter of her local library. She was no couch potato though as she always found joy in many different activities outside. Besides camping with family and friends, Brenda also craved the quiet moments of peace and tranquility that came with tending to her beloved flower garden. She was a huge fan of country music as well, and would proudly tell you that she was not only a member of the Alan Jackson Fan Club, but that he also respected his fans enough to personally communicate with the club rather than using a hired hand! Ultimately, Brenda lived a long and happy life with her family and friends and will continue to live on in their hearts, minds, and treasured memories for many more years to come.

Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Sumpter Franklin, and her parents, Kendrick and Idell Defee Killough. She is survived by her sons, Timmy (Donna) Franklin, Scott (Kay) Franklin, and Chuck (Charlotte) Franklin; grandchildren, Jason (Alison) Franklin, Chad (Kayla) Franklin, Chad (Emily) Gorey, Cameron (Cody) Smith, Kaitlyn (Kaegan) Hembree, Mallory (Garrett) Lloyd; and eleven great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Franklin, Chad Franklin, Andre Dubose, Kaegan Hembree, Chad Gorey, and Cody Smith.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of her favorite places, the Luverne Library.
