Brenda Rhodes Sampley, 61, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, while surrounded by her family. A graveside service for Brenda will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 29th, in Berea Cemetery with Brother Lafayette Sampley delivering the eulogy and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Brenda was the ultimate homemaker who could put anyone else to shame. Not only did she find time to raise her family with all the love and support necessary for a good life, but she also kept everything around the house and yard running like a well-oiled machine. No surprise, she was a wiz in the kitchen who made everything taste like manna from Heaven, but especially that mouth-watering fried cornbread! She kept her yard as pristine as her home and loved tending to garden beds full of vegetables and beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed canning all those delicious vegetables to fill up her freezer and share with family and friends. In her free time, she also had a knack for wood-working and crocheting. Obviously, Brenda was the type of woman who hated having to sit still, so she always found a way to stay busy with something...and taking care of a home is truly a full-time job!
Nothing came ahead of family for Brenda. She loved her home and always had her door open to family and friends at all times. She was always the hostess with the mostest, and the holidays were definitely her favorite time of the years. Whether it was having everyone over for Thanksgiving, decking the hall for Christmas, or having the spookiest house on the block during Halloween, Brenda's house was absolutely the place to be for a fantastic holiday. She was such a generous and thoughtful person that it wasn't hard to understand why everyone wanted to spend their time with her....and the feisty, spunky side of her personality meant you were always going to get a few laughs in, especially when she was trying to "keep Jerry in line"! She was a devoted wife and mother, but those grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her "MawMaw" always filled the biggest part of her heart. Her love was manifested by pictures she had on every inch of surface she could find in her house (and she likely would have wallpapered the house in them if she could). Brenda was the foundation her family was built upon and they all couldn't have loved her any more than they, and the legacy of her love will live on through them for many more years to come.
Brenda was preceded in death by her grandson, DJ Wright; parents, Benjamin Sr & Margaret Sullivan Rhodes; brother, Buster Rhodes; and mother-in-law, Emma Sampley.
