Mr. Willie J. “Buddy” Beck, 70, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, September 24, 2020. A graveside service for Mr. Beck will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 28th, in Bethlehem Cemetery with Brother Jack Cates officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Beck was a beloved member of his community. He was a shining example of a hard-worker, spending over 50 years at Kershaw Manufacturing where he did electronic wiring. He had a deep, abiding love for music, especially that of Hank Williams Sr. He enjoyed football, and knew everything about the programs at both major state schools, the University of Alabama and Auburn University. He had a great appreciation for history, and would happily discuss it with anyone. His varied interests meant he could keep anyone entertained. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who adored spending time with his family. He was dearly loved, and will be just as sorely missed.
Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his parents, Willie John Sr & Lillian Irene Smith Beck, and his sister, Ann Beck Hopkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mableen McCartha Beck; their daughter & son-in-law, Wendy Beck & Shahar Bar; and two sisters, Johnnie M. (Curtis) Walden and Deborah (Annette Brown) Beck.
Active pallbearers will be Shahar Bar, Warren Walden, Earl Walden, Mel Fuller, Ty Majors, and Carl Acreman.
