Mrs. Carolyn Irvin Campbell, 78, a resident of Andalusia, Alabama, lost her valiant fight against COVID-19 on Monday, October 11th, 2021, at Mizell Memorial Hospital. A graveside service for Mrs. Campbell will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, October 14th, in Good Hope Cemetery with Rev. Roger Lee and Rev. Jerry Hogwood officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Campbell spent the majority of her working career as an accounts clerk with the Alabama Department of Revenue until her retirement. She was a dedicated member of Dozier Baptist Church and tirelessly served with the WMU, where she was the Alabama director for Crenshaw County for several years as well. In her free time apart from her career and ministry work, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially a competitive game of dominoes with her husband, or anyone brave enough to challenge her. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family more than anything else in her life. She particularly had a gift for making everyone in her life feel like family, and they will all treasure the memories they made together throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica "Jessie" Rainey; parents, James Thomas & Lillie Nichols Irvin; and siblings, Lena Elizabeth Hughes, Mahon Layton Irvin, and Earl Wesley Irvin. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John Angus Campbell; children, Kenneth (Penny) Fulton, Lee Ann Rainey, Stephen (Shirley) Campbell, Joe (Lisa) Rainey; grandchildren, Haley (Corey) Slawson, Jonathon Rainey, Alexander Campbell, Robby (Tiffany) Fulton, Christina Hamilton, Kyle Fulton, Kimberly Whiteside, Henry Campbell, Olivia Campbell, and Abby Cajen; great-grandchildren, Blaine Slawson, Claire Slawson, Hunter Hamilton, Savannah Hamilton, Alyssa Fulton, Robert Fulton, Kaniah Curry, Kia Reece Curry, Dwayne Curry, and Korbyn Cross; and siblings, Oleen Brand and Denney (Dora) Irvin.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Rainey, Jonathon Rainey, Stephen Campbell, Corey Slawson, Donnie Chandler, and Jason Chandler.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM.
