Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Sexton, 78, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crowne Healthcare in Greenville on Friday, December 30th, 2022. Funeral services for Carolyn will be held at 2 PM on Monday, January 2nd, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Defee officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in Cool Springs Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn was an outgoing and gregarious kind of woman who could have an easy conversation with anyone who crossed her path. She could always put people at ease with a few kind words and the thoughtful empathy that went with it. She showcased the value of hard work throughout her life as she toiled day and night in taking care of her home and family as well as working side by side with her husband every day on their farm. In later years, she also thoroughly enjoyed helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carolyn always loved any excuse to work outside. She took great pride in tending to her garden, particularly her beloved Knockout Roses. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who considered her family to be her greatest blessing in life. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her, but they are comforted in the knowledge that she has joyfully reunited with her husband in Heaven.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Sexton; their son, Joseph Sexton; parents, Daniel Leon & Melzora Skipper Hester; and siblings, Buddy Hester, Barbara Hester, and David Hester. She is survived by her children, Tommy Sexton and Debbie Warren; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Katarina) Sexton and Suzie (Tristan) Warr; great-grandchildren, Mallory Sexton, Emery Sexton, Jasik Franklin, and Tracieon Warr; siblings, Exa Mae Frazier and William Hester; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Cody Brown, Alvin Sexton, Kenneth Sexton, Taylor Hester, and Allen Cauthen.
