Carrol Franklin Jeffcoat

May 20, 1931 — July 13, 2021

Homewood

Mr. Carrol Franklin Jeffcoat, 90, a resident of Homewood, Alabama and formerly of Montgomery, passed away peacefully in his home at Brookdale University Park on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Jeffcoat will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, July 18th, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery in Luverne, Alabama with Rev. Neil Epler officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Jeffcoat left Luverne High School in order to enlist in the United States Army where he proudly served his country in two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. During his almost 25 years of service, he travelled the world with tours in countries like Japan and Germany, as well as all around the United States. After his retirement, Mr. Jeffcoat settled in Montgomery and went to work in a different area of service with the United States Postal Service. While there, he was also an active member of Frazer United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Emmaus Community. In his free time, he enjoyed the strategy involved in playing chess against worthy opponents. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who absolutely adored his family. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his heart. They all feel his loss deeply, but they will continue to cherish all of the memories they made throughout a lifetime.

Mr. Jeffcoat was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jacob Prentice Green; parents, Robert Smith & Lillie Chesser Jeffcoat; and six siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 72 years, Sadie Langford Jeffcoat; three children, Pat (Larry) Martin, Marilyn Callaway, and Tim (Cheryl) Jeffcoat; seven grandchildren, Denise (Josh) Green, James (Sarah) Martin, Caroline (Will) Swift, Chris Jeffcoat, Allen (Kaitlin) Callaway, Ben (Allison) Callaway, and Nicole Jeffcoat; eight great-grandchildren, Kate, Matthew, McKenna Green, Henry & Rives Swift, Mae & Jimmy Callaway, Vic & J.P. Callaway, and one more on the way; and two siblings, Clifford (Patsy) Jeffcoat and Susan (Mickey) Holmes.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30 PM.
