Catherine Louise Simmons

July 2, 1948 — April 25, 2026

Louise White Simmons, 77, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham on Saturday, April 25th, 2026. Funeral services for Louise will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 27th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Dale Simmons and Brother Clay Crum officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside the love of her life in Darien Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the services.

Louise wore many different names throughout her life but the ones that mattered most to her were Momma to her children, Lou Lou to her nieces & nephews, and Nana to the precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren who completely stole her heart. She was the rock and foundation her family was built upon. Those grandchildren never had a doubt that their Nana was their biggest fan because she was always there whether it was one of their ball games or a beauty pageant. Now, don't think Louise solely defined family by blood either. She treated everyone like family most of the time. She was always happy to let them bend her ear or provide a supportive shoulder to lean on. Oh, and she definitely was going to feed you because food was her love language. Her door was always open with food on the table to feed everyone....just don't mess with the grandkids' huge boiler full of her homemade mac and cheese.

Louise was a fixture at Luverne sporting events for multiple generations, and she never failed to have a smile for everyone. Few people could raise your spirits like Miss Louise did. If she knew you, she was going to be sure to check in on you and see how you had been doing since the last time she saw you. She was unfailingly kind with everyone she met and was always generous to a fault with family, friends, and strangers. She truly radiated love and was always a comforting presence for those who needed it. There are few people who can leave behind such a quiet legacy of love and generosity and Luverne was a much better home and community because of her.

Louise as preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles Simmons; her parents, Ducion E. & Margie Owens White; and siblings, Bain White, Wayne White, Joe White, Gerald White, Sybil Hardy, and Faye W. Swearengin. She is survived by her children, William (Deborah) Simmons, Mark (Shea) Simmons, Lee (April) Simmons, and Lynn Simmons; grandchildren, Levi Holley, Emily (Preston) Worley, Tay (Baylie) Brantley, Tanner Simmons, Hunter Simmons, Carson Simmons, Summer Simmons, Ainsley Jordan, Emmalyn Jordan, Brody Simmons, and Catherine Simmons; great-grandchildren, Presleigh Worley, Riggs Worley, and Taysen Brantley; siblings, Shirley (Guy) Simmons, Ray (Lorraine) White, Sylvia Grant, and Raymond (Linda) White; brother-in-law, Willie Hardy; sister-in-law, Barbara White; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
