Charles Seward Brumit

March 31, 1940 — June 2, 2026

Charles "Chuck" Brumit, age 86, passed away Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, in his home surrounded by loved ones. A graveside service will be held for Chuck on Thursday, June 4th, in Rutledge Cemetery with Karell Jackson officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

Chuck was born March 31st, 1940, in Esom Hill, Georgia to his late parents Buford and Mary-Sue Brumit. He served his country as an Airmen in the United States Air Force as well as living a long life full of colorful careers. His most recent occupation led to his retirement as a bail bondsman. Chuck is preceded by his brothers James and Clarence Brumit as well as his daughter Beth Gray. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Chuck's veteran status.

Chuck married the love of his life Joyce Brumit, whom he leaves behind, almost 39 years ago. When not being embraced by his grandchildren, Chuck was a lover of hobbies and was a jack of all trades. His favorite hobbies included: woodworking where he made wonderful tables and benches for family, and collecting antique toy cars. Red trucks being his favorite and inspiration for his own vehicle. His favorite pastime was watching Alabama Football beat their opponents. Roll Tide. However, when football season was over, you would find him watching his favorite Western movies and tv shows, such as Gunsmoke. Chuck spent majority of his time creating and singing fun songs for his family. He spent all of his time loving his family and always attempting to be better for them. He will be mourned deeply by all family and friends who knew him. Chuck, also known as Pops, was a light to all and a joyful man who leaves behind much love and admiration.

Chuck was surrounded by loving family members who mourn his passing. He leaves behind his wife Joyce Brumit as well as two brothers and sisters-in-law Jewel Brumit and wife Maggie and Joe Harvey and wife Lee. Chuck is also survived by four more children and their spouses - Mike Brumit, Ken Brumit and wife Gail, Barbara Tidmore and husband Chris, and Kenney Brumit and wife Ashley. Chuck was a wonderful and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, consisting of Tommy Dommert, Austin Dommert, Terry Dommert, Brianna Brumit, Brandon Pike, CheyAnne Brumit, Dakota Brumit, Christopher Tidmore, Alexis Tidmore, Sara Beth Brumit, Hanna Brumit and Emma Brumit. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren Derek Dommert, Jaden Dommert, Gus Dommert, Hope Dommert, Sammie Dommert, Ariella Dommert, Nathan Booth and Alex Booth. Chuck will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

His pallbearers include family and friends who loved him dearly: Jeremy Norris, Brandon Pike, Christopher Tidmore, Dakota Brumit, Sara Beth Brumit, Bubba Gippert, Mike Lightsey, and Austin Young.
