Mr. Charles Colquett, 82, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 9,2022. A graveside service for Mr. Colquett will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 11th, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Brother Clay Crum officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family will host a public visitation at Turners Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Colquett opened his own parts store in Luverne in 1967 and ran it all the way until his retirement just a few years ago. He had a mind that was sharp as a tack when it came to parts. He knew their numbers by heart as well as any computer would now, and you could always depend on him knowing just what you needed whenever you visited his store. He also loved sports for much of his life. He was one of the first Pee-Wee football coaches at Crenshaw Christian Academy, and he loved playing golf and softball in his younger days. He also thoroughly enjoyed just spending a lazy afternoon trying to catch a couple of fish. Mr. Colquett was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Luverne, and loved his church family there. Above all, he was a family man first and foremost. He adored all of his family, but always held a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed more than words could possibly express, but his family will find comfort in the lifetime of memories they built together.
Mr. Colquett was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittney Nicole Jordan, parents, Jim and Dorothy Arthur Colquett; and siblings Dick Colquitt, Tom Colquett, Robert Colquett, Bill Colquett, Steve Colquett, Louise Sasser, and Jean Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, MaryAnn Colquett; their daughter, Jennifer Duke; grandson, Jason Caleub (Ericka) Mount; great-grandchildren, Greysen Mount, Piper Mount, Colesen Mount, Tripp Jordan, and Elly Anna Jordan; brothers, Raymond Colquitt, Lomax (Clara) Colquett; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Colquett, Juanita Colquett, and Jean Colquett; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Oliver, Steve Sanders, Raymond McGough, Bill Holmes, James "JuneBug" Colquitt, and Wayne Burgans. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Hall, Jimmy Hall, and Michael Williamson.
