Luverne

Charlie Glenn Murry, 86, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nancy Murry, and his brother, Bill Murry. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 67 years, Virginia Murry, his daughters, Debbie (Larry) Smith, Donna (Phillip) McDougald, his son, Glenn Murry, Jr., his grandchildren, Weston McDougald, Moriah McDougald, Tori (Levi) Kerlin, Joe Smith, and his great-grandson, Fletcher Kerlin.

His career with the US Postal Service spanned 38 years, beginning as a clerk/carrier in Luverne, Alabama and concluding as Postmaster in Dozier, Alabama. He took great pride in his work with the postal service, believing always in delivering service with a smile.

His hobbies and skills were many, including woodworking and auto and tractor restoration. He excelled in all sports in his younger years, and at age 50, became an excellent golfer, and continued to play until well into his seventies. He remained an avid sports fan, especially following his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves.

His greatest achievement and source of pride, however, was his family, and his love and dedication to them was of highest importance to him. His many friends will also attest to his loyalty and concern for them. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
