Christine Worthington Taylor, 102, a longtime resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Friday, November 10th, 2023. A graveside service for Christine will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 13th, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Christine was born at the start of the Roaring Twenties, and she had a blessedly long life during which she saw so many world changing events as a member of America's Greatest Generation. She was a phenomenal seamstress who worked at Luverne Slacks until her retirement. She also loved to sew in her free time, making all kinds of special things for herself and her family. Additionally, she cherished the furry, four-legged members of her family over the years, and found tremendous joy in taking care of her yards, especially tending to her beautiful flowers. Christine wasn't one to waste her time being idle, so she kept her mind sharp for much of her life through near daily reading and working through numerous crossword puzzles. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who simply adored her family with every bit of her heart. Her home was constantly filled with fun, family, and lots of laughter every weekend and holiday. Her love for them and the time they spent together was limitless and words cannot express how much she will be missed. Christine had a special fondness for inspirational quotations that she often shared with those she loved, and this one is particularly apt: "As long as we have memories, yesterday remains. As long as we have hope, tomorrow awaits. As long as we have courage, today is ours."
Christine was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lewis Taylor; granddaughter, Donna Glover; parents, Walt & Yarbie Anderson Worthington; and siblings, Geraldine Pope, Foster Worthington, and Walter Ray Worthington. She is survived by her beloved sons and daughters-in-law, George & Henrietta Taylor and Don & Katherine Taylor; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
