Mrs. Chrystal Warrick Baggett, 94, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Funeral services for Mrs. Baggett will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 14th, at South Luverne Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Driggers officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Alabama directing.
Mrs. Baggett was a strong, independent, and assertive woman who was a role model for living an active life of service to others. After raising her family, she went back to school at the age of 40 to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, and she was truly called to the profession. She had a gift for taking care of others throughout her life and her outgoing personality endeared her to so many. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors at various activities and working with the nutrition center in Luverne. She was also a dedicated member of South Luverne Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member of the WMU. She was also a phenomenal cook, especially when it came to desserts. She was famous for her moist and crisp pound cakes and scrumptious banana pudding. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who always made sure her family knew how much they meant to her. She will be deeply missed by all of them, but they have a lifetime of memories to now cherish.
Mrs. Baggett was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Edwin Baggett; their son, Terry Baggett; son-in-law, Byron Hughes; granddaughter, Amanda Beckwith; parents, Jesse Frank & Foy Horn Warrick. She is survived by her children, Gloria Hughes, Ronnie (Johnnie) Baggett, Gayle (Scott) Shell, Donnie (Teresa) Baggett, and Kenneth (Becky) Baggett; daughter-in-law, Billie Ann (Kevin) Flowers; grandchildren, Neil (Fran) Hughes, Matthew (Carrie) Shell, Jeremy Baggett, Celia (Tony) Kelley, John (Allison) Baggett, Michael Shell, Josh (Jennifer) Baggett, Bill (Kayla) Baggett, Heather (Michael) Tillery, DeeAnn (Kyle) Bowen, and Carrie (Jerry) Moore; numerous beloved great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and brother, Don Warrick.
Active pallbearers will be Neil Hughes, Ben Hughes, Bill Baggett, John Baggett, Matthew Shell, Michael Shell, Jeremy Baggett, and Josh Baggett.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Mrs. Baggett's caregivers: Faye Kidd, Sue Posey, Glenda Perdue, Kelly Perdue, Kim Foster, Celia Kelly, Macy Beckwith and Dr. Charles Tompkins and Comfort Care Hospice.
They will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9 - 10 AM.
