Selena Chyenne "Chey" Wallace, 20, a resident of Brantley, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 11th, 2024. A celebration of Chey's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 20th, at Rutledge Community Center.
Chey was a proud graduate of Luverne High School and enlisted into the National Guard soon after graduation. She enjoyed her time in service to her state and country and hated so much when she was discharged. In her free time, there was nothing she enjoyed quite like expressing herself creatively through her painting. Chey was a beautiful and smart young woman, with a smile that could light up a room and a personality that matched. She was blessed with a heart that was so open and big that she always had so much love for everyone....except herself. You see, Chey also struggled for most of her life with mental illness. Few saw the invisible battles she waged everyday with bipolar disorder, but it was a devastating war. She fought fights and faced more than anyone should have to, yet still loved with everything she had throughout her life. The war is over now and she has found peace, but the broken hearts left behind will never stop loving and missing her.
Chey was preceded in death by her father, Jason Thomas Bunch; grandfather, James Wallace; and great-grandmother, Margaret "Ma" Bell. She is survived by her mother, Windee Lee Wallace; siblings, Hailey Wallace, Aaron Sessions, and Sarah Bunch; niece, Isabella Sessions; grandmother, Velma Bender; uncles, James Wallace and William Lowe; cousin, Eric Marvin; ex-husband, Je'vonn Culver; and numerous other family members and friends.
For those struggling like Chey did, please know there is help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 at 1-800-273-TALK.
