C.J. Faulk

September 6, 1934 — May 17, 2025

Honoraville

C.J. Faulk, 90, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for C.J. will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 21st, at Salem Church of Christ with Brother Larry Brady and Brother Steve Faulk officiating. He will then be laid to rest in the church cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 20th, from 6 to 8 PM. He will lie in state at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service time.

C.J. was a fierce patriot who proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge, he eventually went into business for himself by founding his own construction company, Faulk Constructors. He built a successful business that carries on to this day from his dedication and exceedingly strong work ethic. Don't ask him what his hobbies were because a man forged in the hard times of the Great Depression and World War II didn't have time to play when there was work that needed to be done! There are numerous projects around the state that his company helped from the Chappy James Center in Tuskegee to the beautiful Montgomery Riverfront Park. That work ethic never changed with C.J. as he continued to show up to "oversee" projects until he was almost 90 years old! He was certainly an inspiration to the younger generations who have followed him and will continue to do so for many more years to come.

As a dedicated supporter of Highland Home School, C.J. was integral in getting the veteran's monument and the plane installed at the school in honor of all the veterans of Highland Home. The school acknowledged his many years of love and support by naming the field house after him. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and "PawPaw" to three beloved generations of grandchildren. They knew him as the generous and kind peacemaker whose number one job was to make sure his family was safe and happy. He was the very foundation his family was built upon and they all relied on him for so much in life, from help with jobs around the house to the laughter his affectionate nicknames brought. There was nowhere he'd rather be than with his family and his happy place was in his home, filled with the multiple generations of his family. It was guaranteed that if his precious "Minkie," his wife Betty, was cooking then he was going to calling them to all come over and share whatever delicious meal she had prepared. Words simply cannot express how much he meant to every single one of them but what a blessing to have lived 90 long years and your loved ones still feel your leaving was too soon.

C.J. was preceded in death by his children, Cathy Faulk & William Clarence Faulk; parents, Jesse Sr & Eva Sexton Faulk; and siblings, A.J. Faulk, W.J. Faulk, Jesse Faulk Jr, Glen Faulk, Clarence Faulk, Ezra Faulk, and Grace Daniel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty Sue Faulk; their children, Tim (Donna) Faulk & Sheila (Ricky) McElwain; grandchildren, Cory (Amanda) McElwain, Tory (Paige Green) McElwain, Kaitlyn (Trey) Dillon, and Kristen (Bry) Findley; great-grandchildren, Ally McElwain, Emmalee (Brandon) Lane, Eva Adelle Findley, Emmarie Blake Findley, Finn Findley, Miller Findley, George Dillon, Beau Dillon, and Woods Dillon soon to make his appearance; great-great-grandson, Jeremiah Lane; sister, Sybil Stringer; sister-in-law, Betty L. Faulk; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Cory McElwain, Tory McElwain, Gary Owens, Kelly Culver, Mack Waites, and Stanley Holley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Faulk, Bill Faulk, Gerald Hartin, Garry Faulk, Trey Dillon, Bry Findley, George Dillon, Beau Dillon, Finn Findley, Miller Findley, and Jeremiah Lane.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the HHS Jet Upkeep Fund at First Citizens Bank.
