Clemmie Atwell Hudson, 88, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Monday, April 28th, 2025. A graveside service for Clemmie will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 30th, in Brunson Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Hunter Pugh officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Clemmie was a beloved member of her community in Brantley and a mainstay for those buying insurance for many decades. While she started out as a seamstress, Clemmie had bigger dreams to become an insurance sales agent and she became the face of Mutual Savings in the Crenshaw County area for much of her forty-year career in the business. Everyone knew her and appreciated her honesty and forthrightness with them. You never had to question where you stood with Clemmie because she was a woman who knew her own mind and had no qualms about sharing her opinion with anyone! In her free time, Clemmie was a "shop to you drop" type girl, whether it was at a local flea market or beautiful jewelry, she was always on the lookout for something new to add. She also enjoyed the opportunities she had to see more of the world through various cruises over the years. Above all, she was fiercely devoted to her family and will be missed more than words could express.
Clemmie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sammie Hudson; their son, Larry Mixon Hudson; parents, Lucious & Elvira Owens Atwell; and siblings, Carrie Flowers, Clydie Flowers, and Clayborn Atwell. She is survived by her nieces, Janice Edison, Marilyn Kennedy, and Vickie Stacks; nephews, Kyle Flowers and Kenneth Owens; special friends, Shirlene Kelso, Miriam Farrior, and Ruth Messick; and numerous other extended family members.
Active pallbearers will be Bill Baggett, Kyle Flowers, Paul Stacks, Chris Kennedy, Justin Frazier, and Stetson Sasser.
