Michael Clinton "Clint" McCrory, 59, a resident of Lynn Haven, Florida, passed away unexpectedly in Marietta, Georgia on Friday, February 23rd, 2024. Funeral services for Clint will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, February 29th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Stae Sanders. Interment will follow in Springhill South Baptist Church Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday for one hour prior to the service time.
Clint was a proud graduate of Mosley High School in Bay County, Florida, where he lettered in football and was a vital part of their 1981 runner-up team in the state championship. He then moved on to play with the Troy State Trojans during his college career and was beyond proud to be a member of not one, but TWO National Championship teams there in 1984 & 1986. After earning his bachelor's degree, Clint continued with the program as an assistant coach while working towards his master's from 1987 to 1990. Upon graduation, he first worked with Zion Chapel before taking over at Rutherford High School for 11 years and then coaching briefly at both Highland Home and Red Level. Clint couldn't resist the call of his native Florida, however, so he jumped at the chance to take the offensive coaching job at Niceville High School from 2005-2020. Probably there was no greater moment in his coaching career though than getting to end up where he started in 2021 when he took the job at Mosley High School. It's rare to see a life come full circle like Clint's did, but it was simply one of the many ways in which his life was special. He was blessed to spend 37 years guiding and coaching young men towards adulthood and will never know how many lives he touched and changed during those years. Clint has left behind a remarkable legacy through all of the thousands of students he mentored over the years as they go out into the world to, hopefully, emulate the bright and shining light that was his life.
There probably aren't enough adjectives to properly capture who Clint was or the impact he had on so many lives throughout the years, both through his work and in his personal life. He was easily the kind of man who had such a lively personality that made him a lovable bear of a man. Basically, to know him was to love him. He also had an infectious smile that spread to everyone who was lucky enough to spend time with him. Clint enjoyed keeping up his athletic skills with softball leagues and his skills on the field were always highly in demand during his playing days. Otherwise, one of his favorite hobbies was simply finding a fishing hole somewhere to drop a line to wait for a bite. I'm sure it was one of the few times he could just relax while he enjoyed the peace and quiet in the beauty the good Lord blessed us with. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who truly cherished his family as his greatest blessing on this earth. He was the rock his family was built upon and took great pride in his role of taking care of them. He felt himself lucky to have raised a son who grew up to become his best friend. Like I said, there just aren't enough words to describe just how special Clint was, nor how much he is going to be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Thankfully, he will continue to live on in the lives of not only his loved ones, but the lives of every single life he touched, and they know they will see him again one day.
Clint was preceded in death by his father, Bill McCrory. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Allen McCrory; their beloved son, Will McCrory; mother, Miriam Stewart McCrory; his treasure canine companion, Tyrone; and adopted brother, John (Melody) McCrory.
Active pallbearers will be John Hicks, Ricky Perry, Rod Taylor, Marty Gilley, Eddie Brundidge, and Patrick Miller.
