Clinton Jerone Owens

February 23, 1947 — April 26, 2023

Brantley

Mr. Clinton Jerone Owens Sr, 76, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023. A graveside service for Jerone will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 29th, in Indian Creek Church Cemetery with Rev Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, April 28th, from 6 - 8 PM.

Jerone was known throughout the community as one of the best sheetrockers in the construction business. No one knew more about the trade than him and there was no question that his work was always top quality. More than anything, Jerone believed in the true value of hard work and modeled that example to his children and grandchildren every day. And truly nothing delighted him more than to see them succeed at everything they did in life. In his personal life, Jerone loved just about anything that he could enjoy in the great outdoors. He was an expert hunter, whether it was deer or turkey, plus he also loved fishing and sports. In fact, he rarely missed an opportunity to help coach one of his sons' youth sports teams. The kids he did coach were always fortunate to have him in their corner. He not only encouraged them in the game, but also in life. He would be the first to make sure they not only had rides to & from practice, but also went out of his way to look out for them just as kids instead of only athletes. Saturdays in the Fall, it was guaranteed he was going to find a TV somewhere to cheer on his beloved Crimson Tide, and didn't mind sharing his opinion when Nick Saban needed the help!

More than anything though, Jerone was just the best husband, dad, and "Pop" there was. He was the rock of his family, and he dedicated his life to not only providing for them but also making sure they were safe and secure in his love at all times. His generosity was boundless with all those he loved and those he knew were in need. His door was always open to family and friends when they needed help or a safe harbor in the storms life could throw at them. Jerone was also blessed with a brilliant mind. It was like a steel trap: once he learned it, he wasn't going to forget it. His sense of humor was well known and a joy to so many who knew him. He was a gregarious type person and just hanging out with friends sharing the local news (it's not gossip, it's just the "news"). Overall, he was just an honest, forthright, generous, and dependable man who was a shining example of what a good human should be.

Jerone was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri Owens Boggs; mother, Rosie Burgans; father, Bo Curry; and siblings, Mack Owens, J.T. Owens, Roy Owens, Dean Kelley, Geraldine Strops, and Sarah Williams. He is survived by his adoring spouse of 32 years, Sonya Tindel Owens; children, Clinton (Melissa) Owens Jr, Macy (Chad) Williamson, and Judsen Owens; grandchildren, Chelsey (Chad) Bowen, Tristan Owens, Trevor (Jordyn) Owens, Tucker Owens, Emory Owens, Hayes Williamson, Campbell Williamson, and one more on the way; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Bowen, Brayden Bowen, and Coleson Clint Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Rigsby, Junior Curry, Terry Kilcrease, David Lowery, Stan Haws, and Jerry Russell.
