Mrs. Colleen June Barnhart Kent, 93, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama and formerly of Plant City, Florida, passed away peacefully at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Friday, November 12, 2021. A graveside service for Mrs. Kent will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 19th, in Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Clay Crum officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Kent spent most of her working career in the food service industry in demanding and difficult jobs. In her free time, she loved to work in flower garden and she was an avid reader. She also loved to indulge her inner child by often visiting the magic of Walt Disney World. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who loved nothing more than the times she spent with her family. They can now find comfort in the memories they made during her blessedly-long lifetime and the knowledge that she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Kent was preceded in death by her parents, Orton Sr & Ida Campbell Barnhart, and her brothers, Orton Barnhart Jr and Harry Barnhart. She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar & Helen Kent and Floyd & Brenda Kent; granddaughter, Sonja (Charles) Parsons; great-grandchildren, Caleb (Bailea) Parsons, Cassidy Parsons, and Caylee Parsons; great-great-grandson, Hamilton Jackson; sister, Helen Graves; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Rock Hill Baptist Church.
Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Lake Haven Assisted Living for their tender and loving care of Mrs. Kent during her stay there.
