Correy Lee Bozeman, 10, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Children's Hospital on Thursday, May 25th, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Correy will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 27th, at South Luverne Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brantley with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 to 2 PM.
Correy loved sports above almost everything. He was a proud supporter of his beloved Luverne Tiger Football Team, as well as the Troy Baseball Team and the Alabama Crimson Tide. One of his most cherished days was when he got to meet the Troy Baseball Team and they made him an honorary member of the team. He found comfort and joy in his Transformers and Legos, and his all-time favorite character was "Baby Yoda." He also loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his church family at South Luverne. He was also not ashamed to share that love with everyone he met. Above all, Correy was so devoted to his family. They were his rock and his foundation. They made his fight possible and never left his side throughout it all.
Correy was an inspiring and brilliant light in this world. He made more of an impact on the world during his all-too-brief 10 years than most people do in a lifetime. His almost three-year battle with cancer was faced with more courage and bravery than many adults would be able to manage. Throughout it all, he faced it with a smile on his face and such incredibly inspiring grace. He had a smile that would light up any room, and his smile & laugh were purely contagious for everyone around. More than that, he displayed such kindness with everyone he met because he rarely missed an opportunity to pay someone a compliment just to brighten their day with joy and love. He was an inspiration to his entire community these last few years as his trials and tribulations united them into a strong support system for himself and his entire family. Words cannot even begin to describe how special and precious Correy was nor the legacy he has left behind. Ten years were not nearly enough, but he will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of not only his family and loved ones, but his entire community at large.
Correy was preceded in death by his grandpa, Lavon Mount, and great-grandparents, J.W. & Edna Ruth Norsworthy, Edward & Mavis Mount, and J.G. & Mary Kilpatrick. He is survived by his devoted parents, Mathew & Meredith Mount Bozeman; beloved siblings, Tiffany Bozeman and Michael Bozeman; his "Nanny," Peggy Mount & Glenn Majors; "Mawmaw" & "Granddaddy," Elaine & Fletcher Bozeman; uncles & aunts, Ricky & Denise Beck, Ronnie & Shae Bozeman, and Angela Arthur; his beloved canine companions, Mimi & Raye Raye; his goat, Tiny; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be William Baines, Grant Lowe, Joshua Hinton, Mason Arthur, Jace Baines, and Adam Norsworthy. Honorary pallbearers will be Jax Bayman, Andrew Jones, and the Luverne Tiger Youth Football Team.
