Daniel Aubrey Mills

Daniel Aubrey Mills, a lifelong resident of Luverne, Alabama passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 9, 2025. A truly unique person who lived life his own way left us way too soon.

Born on October 23, 1944, at home in rural Luverne, he was the only son of Mavin Messick Mills and Aubrey Felix Mills. He is preceded in death by his older sister, Winnie Sylvia McComas (Sam), and survived by his younger sisters, Lana DiAnn Mills Jones of Grove Hill, AL and Marilyn Mills Aiken (David) of Metairie, LA, as well as three nephews, James Ronald Jones of Jackson, AL, Wayne Aubrey Jones, M.D., of Huntsville, AL and Joshua David Aiken of Madison, MS. He is also survived by three great-nieces, Kristen Jones of Jackson, AL, Carmen Jones Fennah (Sam) of Merseyside, UK, and Aubrey Rose Aiken of Madison, MS.

Daniel loved life. He was a U S Army Veteran having trained in Ft. Benning, GA and Fort Sill, OK, and served in Frankfurt, Germany. Back in Luverne, Daniel was defined by his love of the military where he was a Gold Circle Supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and he showed a true appreciation for our nation's natural heritage, voraciously supporting the Defenders of Wildlife conservation programs.

Daniel leaves us with joyous memories and will remain in our hearts forever. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Daniel is interred in the family plot with his parents and grandparents at Joquin Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to the upkeep of that graveyard at Joquin.
