Mr. Danny Wayne Register, 66, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, succumbed to his battle with cancer in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 22, 2020. A graveside service for Mr. Register will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 24th, in Salem Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Barton officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Danny was born in Greenville, AL on September 12, 1953. After a brief move to Washington state, Danny’s family moved back to Highland Home, Alabama when he was a toddler. There he became an important part of the community. He was the youngest race car driver in Alabama at the age of 15, and his race car “Small Wonder” was featured in Super Chevy and Street & Strip magazines. He spent his days as a hard-working man. He enjoyed fixing things and fishing. His pride and joy was the time spent with family and friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Register, and father, RD Register. He is survived by his son Brandon (Kaitlyn) Register; four grandchildren Mattie, Andi, Madison, and Jacob; former wife of 19 years and caretaker, Vicky Register; his mother, Ruth Register, two siblings, Lane (Jeanie) Register and Barbra (Tim) Sexton; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Register, Jack Daughtry, Daryl McGough, Robert McGough, Kenny McGough, and Lee Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie McGough, Lee Mathis, and Tracy Jordan.
Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
