Danny Wayne Spears

Mr. Danny Wayne Spears, 70, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Saturday, April 17, 2021. The family will hold a memorial service for Mr. Spears at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 20th, at Patsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Don Lingle and Rev. Ken Lyons officiating.

Mr. Spears was a man who loved learning a myriad of different subjects and fields. He eventually went to school at Baptist to become a CT & X-ray Technician, a field in which he worked for 16 years. In his free time, he enjoyed several outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing. He kept his mind active and fresh by continuing his education informally. He was always on the lookout for programs covering history and other subjects. He also enjoyed games and loved following the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. His greatest joy, however, was sharing all of that education and proficiency in life skills with his boys and grandchildren. He was a truly devoted husband, father, and grandfather who leaves behind so many cherished memories for his family to find comfort in.

Mr. Spears was preceded in death by his father, Terrell Wayne Spears; mother, Frieda Mae Wren Rickles; sister, Dorothy Lingle; and mother-in-law, Lou Jean Holladay. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda S. Spears; five children, Andrew (Chetney) Spears, Daniel (Michele) Spears, David (Karina) Spears, Jason (Rachel) Flowers, and Justin (Leslie) Flowers; eight grandchildren, Lily Spears, Paxton Spears, Quinn Spears, Noah Spears, Caitlyn Flowers, Caden Flowers, Coy Flowers, and Luke McCracken; brother, Raymond (Susan) Spears; brother-in-law, Don Lingle; niece, Kristen Evans; three nephews, Richard Spears, Michael Spears, and Jeremy Lingle; and his beloved canine companion of 13 years, Pepper.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Springhill Cemetery Fund. They also request that everyone attending the service wear their Alabama or other favorite team's colors, or camouflage in his honor.
