Danny Ray Walker, 71, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, while surrounded by his family. A graveside service for Danny will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 17th, in Providence Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
Danny spent much of his professional career at Dorsey Trailers where he worked his way up to the position of Team Leader before retiring after 27 years. It was during his retirement that he was able to finally fully indulge his passion for cars and trucks by opening Danny's Auto Sales where he thoroughly enjoyed the process of buying and trading vehicles. When he was younger he loved playing basketball and baseball, and his love of sports continued throughout his life as he loved keeping up with college and NFL football and the theatrics of the WWE. His other passion in life was fishing and he made sure to spend the time to teach every single one of his grandchildren, regardless of gender, how to fish. Not only was he ensuring they'd always have at least one way to feed themselves, but he got to spend quality time building relationships with each of them.
Danny was a pretty strong-willed man with good sense of humor about life, but he was truly defined by the huge size of his heart. Danny was blessed with a love of people in general, which served him well in car sales. He was extremely outgoing and had a wonderful ability to be able to carry on a conversation with anyone. I'm sure he never knew how he brightened other people's day just by being himself, but there's no doubt he did so. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who adored his family and loved nothing more than spending time with them. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by all of them, but they will continue to carry the wonderful memories made together with them for the rest of their lives.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman David and Mary Oglesby Walker. He is survived by his children, Merica (Michael) Tisdale, Jeremy Walker, and Megan Walker (Belle) Sasser; grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Kelly, Caleb (Makenzie) Tisdale, Abby Baggett, Dallas Johnson, Coleman Walker, and Scarlet Walker; great-grandchildren, Caden Kelly and Lee Sanders; sister, Peggy (Rickey) Walker; niece, Lorie (Derek) Willis; and nephew, Marcus (Susan) Powell.
Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Walker, Michael Paul McLendon, Michael Tisdale, Caleb Tisdale, Robbie Walker, Grant Powell, and Coleman Walker.
