Mr. Darrin Ross Sanders, 59, a lifetime resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, November 25th, 2021. Funeral services for Darrin will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 29th, at the Luverne Church of Christ with Brother Jason Holladay officiating. Interment will follow in Rutledge Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Darrin spent most of his working career as a chicken farmer, a demanding and difficult industry. He also proudly served his country with the Alabama National Guard for many years. In his free time, Darrin enjoyed any activity that allowed him to spend time in this beautiful world we live in from hunting to camping and hiking. He loved traveling to the mountains to enjoy the majestic scenery and atmosphere. He also enjoyed singing and wasn't afraid to admit how much he enjoyed watching a good tear-jerker with his family. He was a dedicated member of the Church and served as an elder at Siloam Church of Christ.
Darrin had a quiet demeanor, but he loved social activities and spending time with family, friends, and his church family. He was a generous man, always willing to give of all he had. Above all, he was a devoted family man. He was a caring and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He loved nothing more than the time he was able to spend with them all, but especially his children and grandbabies. He was a huge presence in all of their lives, and he will be missed more than words can properly express.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Russell Sanders, and niece, Katelyn Owens. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Teresa Beard Sanders; their children, Danyel (Derrek) Wilson, Kimberly (Mitchell) Moore, and Ross (Jessica) Sanders; beloved grandchildren, Mylan, Fenner, Silas, and Harper Wilson, Corban Tate, Luke, and Ella Claire Moore, and Darrin-Ross, Bella, and Baylor Sanders; his mother, Gloria May Sanders; siblings, Anita (Tony) Gatlin, David (Angie) Sanders, Dennis (Jamie) Sanders, Dale (Julie) Sanders, Amy (Jackie) Waters, Lisa (Chad) Kilcrease, and Dean (Stephanie) Sanders; aunt, Glenda Sanders; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Dale Sanders, David Sanders, Dean Sanders, Ross Sanders, Derrek Wilson, and Mitchell Moore.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Siloam Church, c/o Jason Holladay, 2375 South Moodys Crossroads, Rutledge, Alabama 36071.
The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, November 28th, from 4 - 6 PM.
