Montgomery

Darryl Alan Dean, 61, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Montgomery Health & Rehabilitation on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023. A graveside service for Darryl will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 14th, in Bethlehem Cemetery in Lapine with his brother-in-law, David Edwards, delivering the eulogy and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

Darryl was a more reserved kind of man, but you should never mistake that for meek or shy. He actually was blessed with a strong-willed personality and was a man who liked to be in charge and never failed to say what he felt he needed to say. He was forthright and honest in a world that doesn't always appreciate those qualities, but they are special to those who do. He was also a devoted son who spent many years taking care of his mother and making sure she was cherished and loved as she deserved to be throughout her lifetime. Darryl truly loved all of his family and enjoyed the times they were able to spend together and he leaves behind many memories for them to cherish. Likely their favorite times were those spent on trail rides and wagon trails together in their youth. That was right up Darryl's alley as animals were often his favorite people! He loved doing horse shows and training horses in his younger days. He also had a deep and abiding love for his pets, especially his dogs, Milo and Suzy, and cat, Samantha.

Some of Darryl's favorite days were the simple ones he spent outdoors either landscaping around his house or tending to his beautiful flowers. He enjoyed the peaceful solitude of those days, as well as the fruits of his hard work. He wasn't a homebody, however, as he was always up for a trip to the beach or mountains. Which beach or mountains? Name it and he'd love to see it!. On Saturdays in the Fall, he could be found closer to a TV so he could cheer on his beloved Auburn Tigers. Otherwise, the weekends were often for spontaneous trips antique hunting at local flea markets and other stores. Obviously, Darryl was blessed with a love for varied interests and activities and was the rare individual who was completely content in spending quality time in his own company. He was still a treasured member of his family and words cannot express how much they will miss him, but they know he is finally at peace.

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Ray & Mary Frances Newman Dean; twin brothers, Ronald & Donald Dean; brother, Milton Ray Dean; and brother-in-law, Lorenzo Duncan. He is survived by his son, Brandon (Anthony) Dean; siblings, Elaine Duncan, Gary Dean, and Donna (David) Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Montgomery Health and Rehabilitation for their tender, loving care of Darryl in the last years of his life.
