Debbie Arlene Nesmith Dicks, 69, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, while surrounded by her family.
Debbie was an introvert but also a warm and outgoing woman who truly loved getting to know people...all qualities that served her well during her career in food service. Her customers always wanted to be seated in her section because they knew that not only would she take good care of them but she would also make them feel like they were at home. In her personal life, she was bless with a strength and resilience that carried her through every sling and arrow that life threw her way. Debbie was also a devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of her heart. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana to her beloved grandchildren, two of whom she lovingly helped to raise. Words cannot express how much she was loved nor how much she will be sorely missed by all of them.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, RJ and Rose Lee Edenfield Nesmith; twin sister, Betty Nesmith; and brother, Donald Nesmith. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, John Dicks III; their children, Kaylum (Tara) Dicks and Mysti Dicks; grandchildren, Bailee Dicks, Zackary Hawkins, and Madilann Dicks; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
