Debra Joyce Dye

Ms. Debra "Debbie" Blackmon Dye, 69, a resident of Dozier, Alabama, passed away at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Thursday, January 27th, 2022.


Debbie spent ten years working in assembly at Dorsey Trailers before her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed keeping her mind active with various crossword puzzles. She was also an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Debbie was the kind of person who could rarely be found without a smile on her face, so she could easily light up a room with her loving, happy demeanor. One of her favorite activities was always entertaining family and friends in her home, even if it was nothing more than sitting on the porch to visit. No matter where they were or what they were doing, her family and friends always had a wonderful time when they were together. Above all, Debbie was a loving fiancée, mother, and sister, but her absolutely favorite role in life was as "Nanny" to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all of them, but they will turn for comfort to all of their cherished memories built together over the years.


Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie B. & Charlotte Compton Blackmon. She is survived by her loving fiancé, John Hagler; daughter & son-in-law, Traci & Mark Hammett; grandsons, Caleb Hammett, Chase Burnette, Ty (Morgan) Hammett, and Zayne (Abby) Hammett; great-granddaughters, Laurel Hammett & Georgia Hammett; and brother, John David Blackmon.


The family will hold a celebration of Debbie's wonderful life at 1 PM on Saturday, February 19th, at Dozier United Methodist Church with Rev. Benjy Wilson officiating.
