Mrs. Demea Davis Mercer, 54, a lifelong resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 5, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 9th, at the Highland Home branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Steve NeSmith officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Mercer was a proud 1984 graduate of Highland Home High School, and later continued her education at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. She would go on to a thriving career with the State of Alabama for over 25 years, working in administration for the Department of Transportation. She was also a lifelong, dedicated member of the Highland Home branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a true servant’s heart, as she spent many years faithfully in service to both her church and her beloved community. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a role model to both her family and all who knew her. Words cannot express how much she will be missed, but they will cherish every single memory made with her over their lifetimes.
Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by her father, Earl Lavon Davis, and grandparents, Foster L. & Essie Lee Beasley Davis, Ray Arnold, and Mary M. Broadus. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 30 years, Buddy Mercer; their three children, Shanna (David) King, Lea (Jerome) Mercer-Harrod, and Stan (Heather) Mercer; ten grandchildren, Jeremy Harrod, Jalen Harrod, Amber Turner, Kayla Turner, Brandon Noel, Lillian Mercer, Makayla Mercer, Jace White Eagle, Eli Mercer, and Chayton White Eagle; her mother, Linda Marie Davis; four siblings, Lavon (Wronda) Davis, Ryan Davis (Alice Pilgreen), Brooke (Chris) Smith, Karlin (Tim) Wright; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Young, Mike Adams, Stan Mercer, Quint McCoy, Jackson Davis, and Braeden Smith.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 - 2 PM.
