Honoraville

Mr. Dewey "Duck" Bodiford, 96,a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 7th, 2023. Duck proudly served his country with the United States Army during World War II where participated in the Pacific Theater of the war. Afterward, he returned home to settle down and eventually went to work with the CSX Railroad. He later retired from the railroad and enjoyed spending his golden years helping to raise his grandson and namesake. In his youth, Duck had many exploits and adventures with his brothers and friends. He was extremely independent and strong-willed, but with those he loved he was always kind and generous beyond all expectation. In fact, one of his favorite activities was working in his garden where he grew crops mainly to share with his loved ones. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed dropping a line at various fishing holes, but there was nothing he loved more than cheering on his beloved Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves. Duck lived a long and prosperous life and has left behind a legacy through his family that will endure for as long as their memories remain.

Duck was preceded in death by his parents, Dock & Ersie Melinda Hammond Bodiford, and siblings, Collie Bodiford, Teasley Bodiford, Billy Bodiford, Abe Bodiford, Era Blue, and Sarah Bodiford. He is survived by his sons, Hazel Bodiford and Bruce Bodiford; grandchildren, Dewey (Camry) Bodiford and Donny (Brandy Morton) Bodiford; great-grandson, Ares Bodiford; sister, Ella Mae Kelley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Dewey Bodiford, Craig McCullough, Ricky McGough, Raymond McGough, Sonny Gregory, and Al Sexton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sardis Cemetery Fund, 15591 Montgomery Highway, Highland Home, Alabama 36041.
