Donald Wayne Bass

Mr. Donald Wayne Bass, 69, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022.

Mr. Bass spent many years working as a printer with the Opp News, and later in life he became a cook with the Chicken Shack in Luverne. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed working outside in his yard, be it mowing his grass, planting flowers, or just creating beautiful scenery. He also loved to play music and sing, especially karaoke. On Saturdays in the Fall, he could most often be found cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide during their football games. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who truly cherished the time he spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed, but his family finds comfort in the knowledge that he has now been reunited with the love of his life, Miss Sue, who he dearly missed.

Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Bass, and parents, John & Elva Foxworth Bass. He is survived by his sons, Tony (SalLee) Williams, Don Bass, and John Bass; grandchildren, Chase, Blake, MyLee, & MalLee Williams; brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Bass and Jimmy (Angelyn) Bass; sister-in-law, Frances (Buddy) Williams; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Bass will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, February 6th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 - 3 PM.
