Mr. Donnie Ray Bowlan, 72, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022. A graveside service for Mr. Bowlan will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 1st, in Pleasant Home Cemetery with Rev. Steve Defee officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Mr. Bowlan had recently retired from the Crenshaw County Road Department and was thoroughly enjoying a slower-paced lifestyle in retirement. He was able to indulge in his love of woodworking and coin collecting. He also enjoyed experimenting with different ingredients for homemade wine. He could often be found spending time with his grandchildren, from teaching them how to repair small motors to spoiling his great-grandchildren as much as possible. He loved spending time with his family and close friends, making so many memories to look back fondly on. He was truly loved by all those who knew him, and he will be terribly missed by all of them.
Mr. Bowlan was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbette Bowlan; parents, Walter L. & Kathleen Sorrells Bowlan, and brother, Grady Bowlan. He is survived by his children, Mike (Kelli) Bowlan, Debi (Josh) Wood, Larry (Sherry) Warren, and Christy Rich (Alan McCoy); grandchildren, Courtney (Tyler) Jones, Dakota (Chase) Garrett, Andrew (Molly) Bowlan, Caleb Bowlan, Jacob Bowlan, Jordan Warren, Reagan Warren, Cristin Rich, Gracie Rich, and Haley Atwell; great-grandchildren, Sadie Jones, Joshua Garrett, Silas Bowlan, and soon-to-arrive Baby Jones; siblings, Walter Lamar Bowlan, Royce Jennings (Shirley) Bowlan, and Dorothy Louise Bowlan; several loving nieces & nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Witch.
Active pallbearers will be Jamie Bowlan, Walter Bowlan, Garrett Montgomery, Chase Garrett, Jacob Bowlan, and Caleb Bowlan.
