Donnie Howell Killingsworth

July 12, 1960 — April 25, 2025

Glenwood

Donnie "Boots" Howell Killingsworth, 64, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Troy Health & Rehabilitation on Friday, April 25th, 2025. Funeral services for Boots will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 28th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.

Boots was born to William Henry & Ruby Lee Hartley Killingsworth in Pike County, Alabama on July 12, 1960. He grew up in Crenshaw County and enjoyed the years he spent at Brantley High School. At the tender age of 14, he went to work as a logger and spent the better part of 40 years working in the woods as both a logger and other associated professions. He loved the time he was able to spend outdoors with God's creation as his "office." That love continued into his personal time as one of his favorite things to do was fish. He was always up for throwing a line into a fishing pond somewhere, anytime. And there was nothing more special than being able to share that passion with both his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter and passed that old Southern tradition on to the next generations of his family.

Boots had an easygoing and lovable personality. He could carry on a conversation with anyone, which meant strangers never stayed strangers for very long around him! No doubt it didn't take them long to see that kind, compassionate heart occasionally hidden by a gruff exterior. It was rare for him to go anywhere that he didn't run into someone he knew, which could make even trips to the store a social event. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and "PawPaw" to the grandchildren who completely stole his heart. Lord knows they certainly couldn't have hoped for one who loved them more than he did and they thrived in that love from him throughout their lives. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, but they have a treasure trove of memories made together in which to find solace.

Boots was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry & Ruby Lee Hartley Killingsworth, and his brother, James Henry Killingsworth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Lynn Moore Smith; children, Danny Dewayne Killingsworth, Jessica Lee Killingsworth, Hilda Rene Glover, Drew (Dana) Smith, and Jonathan Smith; grandchildren, Andrea ("Tater"), Sanatanna, Adrian, Beth, Gage, Emma, Isabella, Katlyn, Sam, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Kamia, Elena, Brook, Faye, Blakelyn, and Meadow Leigh; sister, Ruby Nell Killingsworth; precious furbaby, Sophie; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
