Mrs. Dorothy Holmes Crowe, 91, a lifelong resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday, August 26, 2021. A graveside service for Mrs. Crowe will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 30th, in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brantley with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Crowe dedicated her life to taking care of people. She spent most of her working life as a nursing assistant at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation where she took tender & loving care of her patients. It is no surprise that she would have been drawn to that field as she always had a kind heart and took great joy being able to help others. At home, she raised a large family with that same generous heart, and made sure they always had scrumptious home-cooked meals. Her memory as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will live on in the loved ones she leaves behind and always cherished.
Mrs. Crowe was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Crowe; their sons, Joseph N. Crowe and Barney P. Crowe; and siblings, Christine Hurley, Mary Furr, Hayward Holmes, and Ray Holmes. She is survived by her children, Mary N. Crowe, Linda S. Day, John W. Crowe, and Mark S. Crowe; grandchildren, Erica Hurley, Heather Mathews, Anthony Crowe, Ashley Crowe, Lea Davis, Paula Crowe, Laura Crowe, and Amber Day; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Annie Scott, Betty Walker, and James Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Rick Day, Anthony Crowe, David Hurley, Glen Holmes, and Kevin Hurley.
Family and friends will meet in the cemetery on Monday at the time of the service.
